Phase IArtists Engagement

Workshop with a group of ten traditional performing artists (Therukoothu, Oyilattam,  Bharathanatyam, poikkal kudirai etc) to choreograph an open piece on sustainable living as a theme. The production will be called Elimai Gitam. (done)

Phase II Touring Theater

The Elimai Gitam group will tour schools and do a workshop with this movement  theater production with one section of class 7 of each school in the morning and the whole group and the children who took the workshop will perform for the entire school in the afternoon in each school. We inaugurate this with children from Balamandir on January  21st January at German Hall, Prakasham Street, T.Nagar. Children from different schools in vicinity will be invited for the performance at 2 pm. 22nd Kumararani Meena Muthiah School in Adyar, 23rd Sri Sankara Vidyashramam, Tiruvanmiyur, 24th Vedavalli Vidyalayas, Ranipet, 28th AMM School Kotturpuram, 29th PSBB Millennium, Girugambakkam, 30th Mela at Valluvarkottam 10 am to 8 pm

Phase IIIMela

Mannvaasanai - mela on 30th January 2013 10 am to 8 pm. at Valluvar Kottam  mela will have performances by artists and students, stalls of ideas on safe food, non toxic food, organic small garden ideas, recycling ideas, alternate power ideas, trying one's hand on spinning, Tirukkural and its teachings on this theme and a stall on Hind Swaraj. Schools will be invited to send children and will be open for the public.

IV.Challenges to students

Eg. Steps:   1. Number of energy outlets (classify eg. Fan, light, computers, other gadgets etc)

2. Find out energy expenditure per hour running for each

3. Find out which grid supports the school/home

4. Where does the energy come from

5. How much of the expenditure is actually necessary - what alternatives can the student

suggest.

b)  Water audit of school / home;

c)       Survey of Waste disposal in the school / home:

Eg. Steps: 1. List types of waste generated

2. Separate into bio degradable and non-biodegradable

3. Assess quantity of waste based on number of people generating the waste.

4. Infer from type of waste - suggest alternatives

Survey of Food on any typical day and where It comes from (Processed, organic/Inorganic)
